Pair of Moonlit Winter Countryside Scenes, Oil on Canvas.

This is an interesting pair of paintings.

Both oil on canvas and each surrounded with the same distinctive frame and both obviously by the same hand and palette.

They each depict similar scenes, both are at night, each one has a building with a snow covered roof and each one has a lone figure somewhere in the foreground.

We have had a really close look at these and unfortunately we cannot find a signature.....this may be due to a couple of factors....might not be signed....or just cannot see it because they are in desperate need of a really good clean. The only thing we can see are the numbers 7301985-1 written on the back of each one.

Date – difficult to determine, but what we can say is there is plenty of age in them, at a guess we reckon 1920/1930s.

They do not feel English, again, at a guess we would say possibly eastern European, possibly Russian??

The frames are fantastic, heavily moulded with foliage and fruit.

Frames each measure approx – 49.5cms wide x 40cms tall x 5cms deep.

Canvas measures – 40.5cms x 30cms.

 Condition – you could hang as they are, but they’re a bit dark, a good clean would bring them back and really make them pop!
